Stanley

IMG_2374.JPG

We met Stanley in 2015 as a child with severely bowed legs. Stanley is incredibly intelligent, loves going to school and studying and dreams of one day being a Doctor. Unfortunately, Stanley’s legs were becoming increasingly painful and more difficult to walk and in Ghana a physical disability like this could have really prevented Stanley from many life opportunities that he deserves.

Family First supported Stanley and his family through assessments and regular hospital appointments, then raised funds for his life changing surgery. The surgery went extremely well, and his period of recovery was long and intense. Stanley received regular physiotherapy with FFG, which was massively successful, he has regained a full range of movement, can walk, run and has returned to normal everyday life.

Stanley returned to school to his typical class, and even after missing a year of Junior High School he still got great grades and was accepted to study Science and Mathematics at Senior High School.  Stanley works very hard and FFG support with books relating to his course, a scientific calculator and vacation classes. Stanley comes at least 4 times a year to the centre for Physiotherapy when he vacates from SHS, our physiotherapist does an assessment and gives him exercises to do from home to build up leg muscle strength and improve balance.

We hope Stanley studies hard and does well at SHS and in the future hope to secure sponsorship so that Stanley can go on to University and pursue his dream of being a Doctor.
