Ezra

Ezra is a sweet, quiet little boy who enjoys gentle cuddles and massages, music and singing. Ezra is 2 and ½ years old and lives with his mum, dad, two older sisters and younger brother, who all love him and want to care for him very much! When Ezra was 40 days old he had a seizure, he was rushed to hospital and put on oxygen. When a Doctor did a CT scan, the only thing that they told his parents was that ‘his brain was spoilt and he will be no good’ and his parents lost all hope.

Until Helping Paul came to prove that this is not ever the case, hope is never lost. We took Ezra for assessments at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Physiotherapy department to create a plan of action.

We gave Ezra an adjustable chair to use at home and showed his mother stretches to help to reduce the stiffness of his muscles and increase his range of movement and took Ezra for a range of neurological tests.

Ezra’s family have always desperately wanted a way to help their son, but with limited knowledge at home and from a lot of Doctors it has not been possible, so they are extremely grateful now for the chance to support their son. After just a few weeks of these interactions and physiotherapy support Ezra’s family were honoured with Ezra’s first ever smile, and as you can imagine were over the moon!

Sponsorship will allow Ezra yearly health insurance, transport to and from the hospital and weekly physiotherapy sessions and the ability for his mother to follow Ezra’s care plan.

Health Insurance = 30 Cedi per year
Travel = 20 Cedi per week –
Ezra's mother has two children who she currently has to carry and therefore cannot take public transport, so needs to take a taxi.
Physiotherapy fees = 5 Cedi per week

These fees translate to just £5 a week. This is a slightly larger cost, however if you were to sponsor Ezra with one or two other friends it becomes an extremely small price to recapture hope into this families life and give Ezra the opportunities to development that he deserves.
